The Market is always a hive of activity during the school holidays! Our activities are always low cost or free and change every holidays so there is always something new to do and discover.

Little Market Chefs is back these school holidays! Here at the Adelaide Central Market we are passionate about starting from ground level and teaching the next generation how to prepare healthy, easy and tasty meals together with nutritional advice. Why? Because good health starts in the kitchen! All of the produce will be fresh from our stalls and the team from Sprout will ensure the classes are not only fun and interactive but have an educational focus too. Places are limited, so book now! All classes will include: 45 minute interactive cooking class hosted by the Sprout team- Market chef hat- Mini Market Tour (9-13 years only)- Tastings & recipe to take home$18 per child, plus booking fee. Maximum 4 tickets per order.

Market Trail – $7 plus booking fee (4+ years)

The Market Trail is back due to popular demand! The trail has been specially formulated for little foodies to learn about the local and imported produce that the market has on offer. With ten pit-stops, each little foodie will receive a market bag and map and will visit the selected stalls to receive a sample item. The sample items range from cheese, yoghurt, a piece of seasonal fruit and sweet treat. You can’t beat the Market trail for value these school holidays at only $7 plus booking fee, or $9 on the day).

It is recommended that you book your place in advance as tickets are limited, however, when available, bookings will be accepted on the day. Some sample items may contain nuts and it is the parent or carer’s responsibility to check all items offered by stalls.

Magic Show – FREE (4 years +)

Join magician Steve Presto for a magic show to delight children between the ages of 4 and 12 years. The show will include comedy, audience participation and even a live rabbit! Don’t miss this free live show to delight the kids these holidays!

Paint a pot, plant some seeds – FREE (5 years +)

Join us for our pot painting and seed planting workshop these school holidays. Your little one will be able to paint their own pot before planting their own seedling. The workshops also includes a conservation and environmental focus provided by Kristen Messenger from Conservation Education Services and her staff. The workshops are free and bookings are not required (however places are limited and a short wait may apply). As pots need some time to dry, the latest time to register will be 11.30am.

It’s a feast for the senses as you look, learn, smell and of course, taste! Alex will explain the ingredients, processes and traditions behind these gourmet meat products also know as charcuterie or aufschnitt.

A select Barossa Valley Winery will also join us to offer delicious paired tastings.

This Sausage making class takes you through the whole process of creating a great tasting Sausage. During the class, you will get to watch and assist in creating Traditional and Gourmet Sausages to learn the techniques used.

Once you have been familiarised with the techniques, it will then be up to you to create your own uniquely flavoured Sausage. You will get to select ingredients from our pantry to find the most flavoursome or exotic ingredients you can think of to add to your sausage mixture.

Learn to make your own Ham and Bacon at home with this class hosted by the person behind the Newbury and Watson Artisan Smallgoods brand, Master Curer and Smoke Whisperer, Jimmy Chirgwin.

You will learn about the different types of bacon, flavour profiles, cures and wood types which are the main components that contribute to the bacon flavour.

You will also be shown how to prepare a Champagne Ham as well as discussing the brining and smoking methods for a great flavoured ham.

Your ticket includes over $85 retail value worth of Newbury and Watson Smallgoods, including Shortcut Bacon, Sugar Cured Bacon, Boneless Ham and Air Dried Ham (Proscuitto).

During the class, attendees will get to decide as a group on their own customised boneless ham and bacon flavours, which will be made by Jimmy back at the factory. You will receive 1kg each of the customised bacon and ham to collect at your local Feast! store on a specified date after the class.  The class also includes wine from Bremeton and a meal at the end.
