Sauce Day is an Italian tradition where families get together to make, bottle and preserve tomato sauce to stock up to use for the rest of the year. To honour this tradition, we are holding our very own Sauce Day at the Market on Saturday 25 March 2017! Celebrate the versatility and abundance of local tomatoes with loads of FREE activities including fresh sauce making, cooking demos, live music and kids activities!
Join us on Grote Street Frontage, where you will use local tomatoes and traditional techniques to learn the art of Italian sauce making and of course you’ll get to take home your very own jar of sauce!. Anyone who loves Italian cooking will benefit from this fun activity, and the class is suitable for all ages and cooking abilities, including children from 5 years +.
Time: 10am and 12pm
Cost: FREE (bookings essential)
Please note: Gloves, aprons and hand washing facilities will be provided. We recommend wearing old clothes, closed in shoes and long hair tied back. Please meet 10 minutes prior to class start time, on Grote Street Frontage (in front of O’Connell’s Meat).
Kids will have the opportunity to plant their own seedlings to take home.
